United Hospitals Bumps Races 2010

The United Hospitals Bumps are held between Brentford Lock/Syon Crossing and the University of London Boathouse/Chiswick Bridge.

A bump is defined as boat, blade or person touching boat, blade or person.

A technical bump is defined as bows past bows.

The start is marked by the five minute, one minute and start klaxons.

The finish is when the sternpost of each boat passes the finish flag at ULBH (women's) or MAABC (men's crews).

There is a variation in navigation for all oared boats against the stream at Brentford lock as shown in PLA Notice to Mariners 2010U1

  • Head Ladies crew: GKT1
  • Head Men's crew: GKT1
  • Highest Ladies' second crew: GKT2
  • Highest Men's second crew: ICSM2
  • Blade winners: RVC L2
  • Wooden spoons: No takers
  • Fancy dress winners: Pink Ladies (RVC), special mention to the Flowers (SGH) and the Gym[ps] (BL)

1.      Currently a student enrolled on a course in medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry, nursing, or paramedical sciences at a constituent college of the confederation of the University of London or Imperial College.

2.      Qualified from a course shown at 1 above.
